My doctor doesn't want to retest me .

Postby Jan » Wed Mar 14, 2007 6:39 pm

Just back from my doctors appt. Told him no D but still 2 to 3 BM's every morning plus very gassy stomach. Told him my GI (whom he refered me to) wanted me retested for C Diff via stool sample 14 days off Vanco. My doctor then told me since my BM's are not loose and slightly formed that he said there is no use testing because they don't do tests unless it is "D". I don't understand why my GI said a retest and the other doctor is saying no big deal, no symptoms, no test. Any one out there have any suggestions? What should I do? HELP!

Jan,
Unfortunately, docs often don't agree. This happens especially with a disease like recurrent cdiff, where there are not a lot of good treatments. If I were you, I'd go for being retested, for your peace of mind. You can have cdiff without D, which your doc may not know. Good luck.
