Undigested food

Postby Lissaucd » Mon Jan 10, 2022 12:55 pm

Hi there!!!

It has been since august since my last dificid. I was still having looser stool months after and discovered it was probiotics. I stopped all of the probiotics since December 14. Things have improved!!! But, I recently tried strawberries and saw them in my poo this morning undigested! Is this normal? Also, I have been eating and still not gaining weight! I’m recently getting over a bad cold so wasn’t super hungry but before that- no weight gain. Here is a typical day for me!

1) peanut butter toast x 2
2) Chex mix with walnuts / half of Kate Farms nutritional drink
3) leftovers - like taco leftovers. Tortilla ground beef rice with onions.
4 ) dinner- last night we had chicken, stuffing, green beans, rolls
5) slice of apple pie

Any advice?! What I can do to add weight and not see undigested food! My appointment with the specialist isn’t until March! He’s very popular here in California so I have to wait!!! I appreciate you all so much!!!

Not sure why your seeing a specialist if your symptoms have improved!
The problem seeing a Dr is they know your expecting them to prescribe something and they often oblige and give you meds that you don't need.
Undigested food is normal, many foods can be recognisable "next day" :-)
As for putting on weight, the only way is to eat more calories than your burning.
What you list sound like 1500 calories at most so increase carbs and fats (slowly).

Hi Roy! Nice to hear from you! Thank you, you have a very very good point! I think I just need to let this c diff go… which is easier said than done. Okay, more calories it is! Thr nerves are still there from being sick… but I just need to get over it. I know I’m burning a lot of calories because I have a three year old that is wild! I am constantly chasing around the house, cleaning, folding laundry, you name it I’m on the move!!! Im sorry….I know I need A lot of reassurance that I’m okay….

Lissaucd, I really admire you and think that you have very strong character of a fighter being able to take care of a child while still recovering from this deadly infection, you are just a hero! Not many people could manage to deal with both challenges at the same time ... Keep up your high spirits and don't give up, you will recover completely, I am sure!!!

Steffi….. you made me cry, like a baby. (Good cry!)Thank you for the kind words. You don’t even know how much that meant to me. My husband doesn’t understand the anxiety that comes with c diff. He is pretty tough on me and doesnt want to hear about my issues at all. He gets super frustrated. So, I come here. I do talk to my parents a lot and they are wonderful. But to have individuals who understand completely has helped me so much. Again, I’m so sorry I post so much for reassurance. I’m just scared of not healing completely or not putting weight on. I take care of my daughter full time so it just scares me. But I know worrying won’t help, and I just need to eat, eat, eat and trust that I’m going to get completely better…Thanks again steffi!

LIssaucd - What kind of specialist are you seeing? Not all prescribe meds. I saw one for SIBO that gave me a diet to follow, for example. Some posters have seen or talked with a nutritionist. You can do a telephone appt with them. Cases of Covid are so high in CA right now that I have done my doctor visits virtually. I am planning on talking to a nutritionist in a few weeks, something I should have done years ago.

I’m seeing Doctor S! He is booked until march! Also, I see a nutritionist again this week! She told me before half my plate needs to be protein- which is hard to do! Hopefully she can give me more tips! Thank you for the advice Beth!

Dr. S did my FMt as you know and I have gone up to see him twice after. He doesn't prescribe unnecessary meds and he also talked to me about diet. I think it is good that you are seeing him and you can discuss with him what your nutritionist tells you. Dr. S is very knowledgeable and I think you will be happy you talked to him.

That's good news. Write down everything so you don't forget. Tell him hello for me.
