I was in the hospital for acute appendicitis on July 5,2021. Not long after I was discharged I got C Diff.
I have been sick since July. I am now on my fourth bout of C Diff.
I have had two rounds of Vancomycin and one of Difcid. I am now back on Vancomycin. for 14 days.
I have been doing a ton of research. The Gastro wants to do a fecal implant but I am reluctant to do so. I discovered an infusion treatment called Zinpalva. I can get it close to my home. MY gastro is not wanting to refer me because e he claims he and his staff have never heard of it. It was approved by the FDA in 2016. This has to be done next week as I am going back to Florida. I now don't trust this Gastro practice. I have spoken with infusion center and all they need is a referral.
Has anyone tried the Zinpalva infusion ? If so what are your thoughts?
I can't keep going on like this.

Re: Zinpalva
Hi Skye,
I have read a story about a woman (40+ years old) with severe cdiff infection: she had all kind of treatment including fmt without success and finally an ID doctor recommended Zinplava and it worked! As far as I know Zinplava contains monoclonal antibodies...but, please, be careful - everything shoud be done only under doctor's control ! I am only giving you some information that I have read on the Internet.

Thanks for your reply.
I am glad to hear that success story. I am under a Gastroenterologist care. I have asked them to refer me for the infusion this week. They are dragging their heels because they won’t make any money from it ZThey want me to do a fecal implant which will make them money. Time is of the essence here and I am not getting through to them.
To get the infusion you must have an active case of CDiff and be on antibiotics for it.

Re: Zinpalva
If I had a choice I would go for FMT everytime.
As far as I know the "cure" statistics are for Zinplava given alongside antibiotics for the First occourance of C. Diff and it reduces relapses.
After 3 relapses its probably not as effective.
Same with Dificid, used first its superior but its not superior to vanco for relapsing C. Diff.
Have they tried tapering meds?
Did full on D return within a few days of finishing each course of meds?

Re: Zinpalva
The first two times I relapsed within a few days. On Dificid it took two week. I am now back on Vancouver for 14 days.
Curious to know where you got the info on Zinplava only working well on first occurrence. I would like to be able to look up as much as I possibly can. If you know of any other resources I would love to have them.
Thank for your reply.

Here's the trial summary
https://www.merckconnect.com/zinplava/c ... high-risk/
Note it states it was used mainly on people at high risk of relapse, not people that had suffered multiple relapses.
I always look closely at what's not said in these studys.
FMT has a high cure rate if you can accept the "ick" factor.

Re: Zinpalva
Zinplava is not without risks. One of the main risks is heart failure. There are others listed as well. Roy has given you a link and there is more information online. I got an FMT and if I had the choice, I would do that again as well.
