Dificid
Can I hear some stories about dificid? I’m waiting for the drug store to get it so I can take it after a failed flagyl attempt. I got serious hives on flagyl and feel downright horrible. I’m so scared to take another med for fear of another allergic reaction. I’m one of the ones who has c diff and constipation. It’s horrible. I can feel the toxins all over my body. Took months to diagnose because of the crazy constipation. It’s torture. It won’t come out so it rises up as severe heartburn, aggravates my asthma terribly, along with the stomach pains and gurgling. Every now and then mucous, water, and a little blood comes out. I got it from augmentin. I had it 15 years ago and did vanco for months. I have a sweet doctor who knows nothing. Im a 51 yr old female and keep talking myself out of going to hospital. I’m a single mom of a 15 and 13 yr old with zero help. If I go in hospital, they have no way of getting back and forth to 2 different schools.
Sorry to rant. I just keep reading stories of death on the internet and keep scaring myself. Thank you for listening.

Re: Dificid
Deficid is a very good antibiotic for cdiff, many on the side have ActiveX remision, the best will be a taper.
Good luck,

Re: Dificid
I feel it must be pointed out that testing positive for C. Diff is not uncommon and not a disease.
Solid stool should not be tested and is very much against the guidelines.
Over diagnosis and overtreatment is the direct result of testing solid stool.
Symptoms of measles are spots, symptoms of C. Diff colitis are D.
If your going to test until you get a negative result you might be on meds forever!
Anything is possible but C. Diff lives in your colon, that's 20 feet away from your gullet so heartburn is not a C. Diff symptom.
Get your Dr to send you to an expert, your current Dr seems to have little knowlage about C. Diff

Correct. She knows nothing.
I don’t have solid stools. I have water, mucous, and blood.
But thank you for your response.

Re: Dificid
I would listen to Roy. Next, I would call your doctors office and demand a infectious disease specialist. You need someone that knows c diff. If not check out Peggy foundation that recommend specialists!

Is Roy a medical doctor? I went thru this 15 years ago. Was on vanco for many months. Had c diff for 2 years. I had the best infectious disease doctor in New Orleans. If it gets worse, I know exactly what to do. All I’m asking for is dificid stories because I’ve never taken it before.

Check out the success stories section and look up dificid. I’m sure that will help. Hope you feel better.

Re: Dificid
Hi
I have been on Dificid several times (Taper) but have an ID specialist. I would highly suggest you see one asap. Let them know what is going on. Dificid was not easy for me to take, I found it very harsh but in 2014/15 I had 5 relapses on Flagyl, Vanco and had to see an ID to get Dificid.
Last year I had it again, but my ID went directly to Dificid and it does work. For me, it was not easy to take but some have no issues at all
If you are unable to see an ID, then find a GI who knows CDIFF
Wishing you the best, feel better soon

Hi Jodiekee,
I just want to let you know that Roy is more knowledgeable in cdiff field than many doctors.
Wish you good luck and quick recovery!

Ty!
This is so weird to me. I came here to ask about dificid, not have a moderator on social media tell me he thinks I have solid stools and shouldn’t be tested. That’s counterproductive and could cause harm to someone who has no idea. I was on this website in 2007 fighting c diff. I’m well aware of this beast.
I would like to talk about dificid and not how much Roy knows.
Again. Thank you.

Re: Dificid
Sorry if we are misunderstanding each other.
You said you are constipated, that means you can't pass a stool.
I can only repeat that if you feel your Dr is not educated in treating c. Diff then it's advisable to be referred to an expert.
Constipation caused by C. Diff is a severe and advanced complication and is preceeded by copious watery stools, its always a medical emergency.
Dificid is usually well tolerated.
Theres some posts where users say they had negative reactions.
Use the search feature to find them.
Please don't use the quote feature, it fills up the page and we have to close the thread sooner.
Your previous posts were made simply as the user Jodie.
The account is still active.

Re: Dificid
Ty! It’s been so long I didn’t think I was still activated.
I’m learning to navigate the web site again. Im not sure how to respond without pressing the quote button. I didn’t post everything that’s happening with my stools because that’s TMI and gross. Lol.
I searched dificid and it looks like there’s not a lot on it. Most did well, a few had problems. My insurance company is giving me problems anyway. They don’t want to approve the dificid and I can’t get a coupon because my insurance is state run. Ughhhh.
I put in a call to my old ID but there’s no telling when I can get in. Everything here was destroyed by Hurricane IDA and most places are still closed and without electricity.
Vicious battle.
