Treating sibo with herbs — a good idea?
Hello again! I’m about three weeks post vanco and I’m doing pretty well, fingers crossed! I am crazy bloated however and am wondering if I have some SIBO going on and want to test for it at my naturopath. They would normally treat it with anti microbial herbs — is this a bad idea for me at this point in recovery? Should I wait to treat it? Do anti microbial herbs cause relapse? Thanks in advance!

I have seen one of the top SIBO specialists in the country and he recommended curcumin to me years ago. Usually SIBO is treated with antibiotics like Xifaxan, but diet can also help.

If your doing well why change anything?
Very often the best treatment is NO treatment.

To clarify, by doing well I mean not having c diff symptoms. I am very bloated and uncomfortable still.

I suspect I have had SIBO for quite some time as I have many unique symptoms that only match SIBO, though I was never tested for it. I took small amounts of Oregano oil during and after my vanco taper to help with stomach symptoms but changing to a low FODMAP diet helped me the most. I eventually stopped taking it completely as I felt the risk wasn't worth it anymore.
