C-diff and elevated TSH

Hello. My c-diff resolved in January 2020 after treatment with vanco. Recent bloodwork disclosed an elevated TSH level. Does anyone know if there is a connection between c-diff and underactive thyroid? Thank you.

Only your Dr can answer medical questions.

I agree with Roy that only your doctor can answer this. But I'll just mention that I've lived with thyroid disease for about 10 years now and no doctor or specialist has ever made reference about a connection between the two illnesses. I highly doubt that c diff would have any effect on your thyroid but it never hurts to ask. There have been instances where viral infections have triggered thyroiditis but c diff isn't viral.

I can share my case with you where having CDIFF did play a roll in a big change in my TSH. This was due to the weight loss I had during the year I had CDIFF along with all the relapses.

I was taking Thyroid medication during this time so my Endocrinologist has to step in and carefully review. It took time for levels to return where they needed to be before CDIFF.

If you have never had any thyroid issues, you may want to consult with an Endocrinologist.

Take Care
