Hi everyone,
I am a 32-year-old woman. I was diagnosed with c. diff back at the beginning of March. Since then, I have been put on 10 days of Flagyl, 10 days of Vanco, 10 days of Dificid and then 10 days of Dificid again. All of these have failed. I just had a terrible night of diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and fever. My GI now wants to try a long Vanco taper.
I'm feeling really scared and discouraged. Dificid is the magic bullet for most people but unfortunately it didn't give me a sustained cure. So now it's back to Vanco. I have been sick for so long. I feel like I will never beat this monster infection :(.
Has anyone had success with a Vanco taper AFTER trying Dificid?

NS789 I am so sorry to hear that you relapsed again, and I hope that Vanco taper will work for you. I am still on Dificid taper. I am thinking of talking to my DR about the FMT if the taper didn't work for me..
hang in there, we will get through this.

Dificid is not reported to be superior for treating relapsing c.diff.
You seem to have aged 2 years since your first post in April :-).

Thanks Ali! I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that the Dificid will work for you.
I live in Canada and I haven't heard much about FMT being an option here. I'm not sure if it's an approved treatment by Health Canada.
Roy - haha oops! Must have been a typo but I'll stick with the younger age! ;)
