Abdominal pain a PI-IBS Symptom?

Postby Ali-Mar » Mon May 25, 2020 8:38 pm

I am on Difcid taper now, taking 1 pill every 40 -48 hours or so ( every other day) . I have so general abdominal pain and discomfort for last 3 days , for most of the day. The pain is not severe about 2 our of 10, but i have it almost all the time... no gas , the BM are 1 or two per day and semi-formed

Is general abdominal pain and discomfort a PI-IBS symptom ?

Yes , it is , but it can be managed with antispasmodics. You could ask your doctor to prescribe some antispasmodics for you , it helps a lot.

The only annoying side effects of hyoscamine are dry mouth. Drink a lot of water and get some sugar free hard candy to help you with that. I took it on and off for many years.

Annoying abdominal pain is both a common and ongoing on/off symptom PI-IBS during recovery. If I could get rid of one, it'd be that one. Other symptoms have come and gone, but that nagging ache has taken *forever* to get better on average over time. I'm 2.5yrs in.

I looked up Hyoscyamine on rx.com and sounds like it suppresses the stomach acid, just like Prilosec. I wounder if it will cause a relapse due to reducing the acid function of it? I haven't taken any yet..

Is there any antispasmodics that does not affect the stomach acid?

Some people expect medication for the slightest thing "wrong" and for very mild symptoms and far too often their Dr prescribes them just to pacify the person sitting on front of them!
Theres no instant fix.
A good Dr tells a patient who has health anxiety that often the best "treatment" is NO "treatment".
Time is the best healer.

Agree 100% , I am not going to treat the abdominal pain if it is not safe , i prefer to live with the pain than taking a risk
