Post FMT

Postby Kctexas » Tue Dec 03, 2019 2:58 am

I received a FMT this August after a year of battling c diff and have been symptom free since.

However my dermatologist just recently prescribed me a face cream with 1% clindamycin.

I am going to be asking my GI about this but should I be worried as much as I am about using this cream?

I would NOT touch Clindamycin in ANY form ! There are other antibiotic creams out there ,better ask for something else.

It says on the box that it can cause c.diff.
You and your Dr have to weigh up the risk of antibiotic use.
If it's to clear up a zit it might not be worth the risk, if its to cure a life threatening illness its needed.

Totally agree with Roy.
The only way I would touch clindamycin in any form would be for in a matter of life or death.
I am betting there is an alternative.
Call your dermatologist and ask.

I had to get a fmt for cdiff from oral clindamycin. I would never risk another infection by taking any form of this drug again.

Thanks everyone. I saw the prescription and immediately had anxiety over it. I got my c diff from Cipro/Augmentin after a horrible dog attack but I know clindamycin is a big causative antibiotic too.

Thanks!

Update for everyone who was so kind to reply,

I spoke with the dermatologist's Nurse Practioner and she agreed a no antibiotic cream would be the best for me.

Thank you all so much!

Topical clindamycin gave me D and the dermatologist said to stop immediately. This was way before c diff. I have used topical erythromycin wipes with no problem.
