Do Antibiotics Make C. Diff Worse?

Postby flygirl » Mon Sep 23, 2019 8:28 am

All,

Do antibiotics make C. Diff worse? Ever since I started Vancomycin my number of stools per day have doubled.
Is this normal?

Things should slow down, check in with your GI. You don't mention your dose, review with your physician.

If not improvement continues, you may consider talking with them about Dificid

Take Care

The Vanco should fully kick in by day 6 . If your frequency does not go down and stool is still runny you should go to your doctor , to either get your dosage revised or to switch to Dificid.

I had loose stools, sometimes runny, during and after my vanco treatment. It took weeks for my stools to get more solid. So, unless you're having watery D., I would suggest that this is a normal part of the vanco. experience... there were many times early on in my vanco treatment and in the weeks after where I thought I was relapsing. But I wasn't!

I notice its 20 months since you first posted.
Has c.diff returned?
Returned means full on D, not just a positive test with formed stools.
