I probably have had C Diff for a very long time - so many questions!

Hi, I'm a healthy 65 year old lady. I've never had many diarrhea problems, so when they started 2 years ago I just kept dealing with it and dealing with it. Sometimes it was huge, sometimes just a rough start to a normal-seeming day. Finally a few months ago I called my gastro. WITHOUT EVEN SEEING ME she prescribed 2 antibiotics to take at once, which I did. It was horrible and didn't help at all and I'd say that that started my CDiff but over these past 2 years I've been on antibiotics so many times it's ridiculous. So it is hard to say when it started. When I finally got to my new gastro's office about a month ago, I swear I thought the diarrhea was gone because it had been a couple of weeks. So my case has been unusual, I think?
He had me do stool samples and the CDiff was there. As was another worrisome thing that might be SIBO and I have to get some kind of 6 hour breath test. When I took Vancomycin for 14 days I thought I was dying. It hurt so bad. Now it's been one week and the diarrhea is as bad as ever and it feels like my whole body is messed up from taking the Vancomycin.
Here's what I'm wondering. And it's what scares me. Do you think that I'll have a harder time getting rid of it compared with someone who has an acute case that gets treated quickly?
Thanks you guys if anybody is out there!
