Need to decide

Postby Bern » Fri Jan 18, 2019 10:05 am

I spoke to my GI about postponing my colonoscopy and she said if she were me she would not reschedule. She says the prep will not cause a relapse, and she really wants to check for chrons. She did say I could go back to vanco once a day if I was concerned. Otherwise, I would have to wait until April. I don't know what to do. Have people really relapsed from the prep or are they just coincidences? I kind of want to get it over with..... please respond so I can make a choice today.

Only my opinion. I would do the colonoscopy. Get the results you need to ease you mind. CDiff can cause such anxiety. Good luck.

Like you, I was hesitant to have a colonoscopy and was afraid that the prep would flush out all my gut flora that I worked so hard to rebuild after almost 8 months of recurring c-diff.. But I did the colonoscopy anyway and à funny thing happened after the procedure: I started to have normal BM! I think the prep somehow did a reboot of my digestive system, maybe got rid of any residual bad bacteria, I don’t know... All I know is that ever since, My IBS symptoms were greatly reduced and I can have a relatively normal life now, with one to two BM a day, I can eat almost anything, ( except grapefruits for some reason..) I must admit the prep was really unpleasant and brought back anxiety of having to spend the night in the bathroom, but once it was done I felt better.
