Get yourself a quality kefir and drink it in the morning and before bed get some bio k and sacc boulardi and take the bio k once a day and the sacc boulardi in the morning and in the evening. Try and get fermented foods in your diet as well I use to make a smoothie every morning which I used kefir as the base plus I put my bio k in it also I used blueberries strawberry’s pineapple turmeric powder l glutamine powder and dandilion or asparagus. You can’t just load up on probiotics without probiotics!! Then I would take a sacc boulardi pill..
Best of luck you will beat this..

I am finding each day is different which is fuelling my anxiety.

Yesterday seemed fine, no issues.

Today back to a burning tummy, and normal then powdery bm and pinkish m when I go.

Is this normal? Would you recommend asking the doc to retest me? It is getting me down.

Anything except watery D is normal.
A retest can give a false result both positive and negative.
The only indication that you need treating is the return of profuse watery D several times a day.

Ok just been to the doc

He pushed my stomach a bit ordered another stool sample and prescribed me 500mg of flagyl to take in the meantime.

He said maybe there is still some c diff hanging around. He said it was weird I was given vanco to start as that should be second round treatment.

Having read all I have on here I am not going to take the flagyl I do not want to make things worse. I will await the sample i guess but do you guys have any more advice do you think I am doing the right thing?

Your Drs reading our of date information.

One point.
You were on a PPI before you heard of c.diff.
There must have been a reason for that.
It will still be there even if c.diff is gone so dont assume minor symptoms are c.diff related because of a positive test.
Testing after treatment is unreliable.

I have been on the PPI due to a hiatal hernia that was causing acid causing erosion in the oesophagus. I have never really had bowel issues..

I have handed in the sample today so I guess I will wait and see what comes back but I just don't know what to do or think right now..

Yikes. I'd be finding a new doc.

Flagyl is no longer recommended to treat CDiff. Vanco or Dificid is first line treatment with Vanco taper/pulse being the second line of treatment.

If you're not having watery D multiple times a day, you shouldn't be worried about relapse just yet. Pumping your sensitive system with more antibiotics will only delay healing. Overtreating is rampent among CDiff sufferers. People expect to take meds and go back to normal but it's simply not how it works with this infection. It takes times and patience to heal from this. I am almost 11 weeks off Vanco in recovery and I have bad stomach days a couple times a week still! But my profuse watery D has not returned.

We can't give out medical advice, only share our experiences. If I were in your shoes I'd get a second opinion. The test you took could easily come back positive even if your are asymptomatic. My doc does not treat on test results only and goes based on symptoms for his patients that have had CDiff because it's likely healing patients are still carrying some spores in their guts.

I hope you feel better soon.

It depends if you have symptoms of colitis!
If a Dr told you that you tested positive for measles but you did not have spots would you treat?

I don't know if I do to be honest.

I have a lot of on/off cramping and burning, the feeling of needing to go most of the day, going 3 times in the morning with m but no d.

I also don't want to take the flagyl he is prescribing anyway but I think I will wait and see if things get worse

Hi,
I'm 12 weeks post Vanco and I still have good and bad days. The bad days trigger my anxiety which then make the bad days worse! I never had d to begin with and I was treated. Looking back now, I'm really not sure if I should have however I can't do anything about that now. What I do know is, I have an abundance of information avail to me on this site and elsewhere. With that, I have chosen to not retest unless I get frequent d. I do feel that hearing over and over with such harsh meds is wreaking havoc on sensitive systems. Ultimately it's up to you and I understand the difficulty but we are here for added support if you need it. I continue to take 1 vsl 3 per day along with my oregamax, which has helped me a lot. Not all the same remedies work for all but once you find one that works, allow it to be apart of your routine. This recovery process can be quite long for many. Has your Dr. ordered any blood work testing your inflammation levels and CBC? (Sorry if you already included that info and I missed it)

Most labs will follow up on a positive PCR with an EIA test. I have tested positive on PCR for over two years and have not treated because I have not had D. I have off days too - stress seems to trigger symptoms. My EIA test is negative. I would ask to have it followed up to see if you are producing toxins.
