Post C Diff- Messed Up Digestion?

Postby DD454 » Wed Aug 29, 2018 7:25 pm

I no longer have C diff but I also no longer have an appetite like I used to. I also have terrible anxiety that I didn't have before, and I am seeing a therapist. I don't know if my lack of appetite is from anxiety or if c-diff somehow messed up my digestion? I will eat, but I never feel hungry anymore. Has anyone had this?

Cdiff itself and the meds to treat it can mess up your system. Most people are left with severe dysbiosis after treatment that usually goes by PI-IBS and it takes awhile until the balance comes back to some kind of normal , that also depends on how many courses of antibiotics you have taken . Specialists say that the gut is the second brain and anxiety is very common when the gut flora is not balanced. Many here have issues with anxiety , some got trough it with therapy , some needed psychiatric treatment (like myself).

I don't think that post-infectious IBS would account for lack of appetite. Give yourself time to regain your former appetite. Meanwhile you may need to somewhat force yourself to eat. Perhaps there are bland albeit tasty "treats" that will encourage you to do so.
If your illness was preceded by use of a medication, e.g., an antibiotic, please fill out an FDA Adverse Event Report at http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/default.htm

Try eating more frequent smaller amounts rather than big meals. That is often helpful.
