I have not heard of infusions with CDIFF, generally patients are put on oral meds before the FMT . I would ask them what type of infusions and if this is something they typically do? Is the ID working with a GI who will do the FMT?

Often they will team up together. I would get as much info as you can.

Hope you feel better soon!

I was told infusion was an option by the GI assistant. The ID doc never mentioned it. He has me on a modified Vanco taper that will end 2 days before my GI performs the FMT via Colonoscopy. The taper is 7 days 4 times per day, 7 days 2times per day, and 7 days one time per day. I just hope symptoms don’t flare up just before the FMT on such a short taper...

Thanks for the well wishes!!

Vanco did give me terrible fatigue. The c difficile did not. Someone posted that vanco can knock potassium levels down, which might explain it. I know after FMT I felt pretty tired for a while too. Check your vitamin levels. I was low on D and A. Some people are low on B12, B6 or iron. Vitamin deficiencies can cause fatigue too.

All blood work so far has shown normal levels. Which was hard for me to believe given the debilitating fatigue that I’ve experienced on and off since February.

Doctors don't usually test vitamin levels as part of routine lab tests. They just test and look at RBC and WBC. Ask to check B12 and vitamin D at least. If your RBC was okay, then it is probably not iron, but could still be the others.

Thanks Beth22. The last time they did blood work they checked vitamins along with Lyme disease. It all showed normal. Even my WBC. They haven’t checked autoimmune markers though...
