Is this PI-IBS or something worse?

Postby mattzkie » Fri Jul 13, 2018 10:47 am

Tested positive for C diff toxin B pcr on May 26th, 2018, i believe that it is due to penicillin intake from having a strep throat but i'm not exactly sure how i got c diff. I been having alotta diarrhea for a couple of months prior to my diagnosis on May 26th (never been checked if I had IBS or even knew what it was at that time) so i dont really know I just didn't wanna get checked because I was in denial. Started taking a 14-day 4x a day 125mg dose of Vancomycin on May 27th and finish last dose on June 11th. On June 14th, my dr decided to stool test me because i was complaining to her of certain symptoms after finishing my last dose. Obviously i tested negative (i know it was too early to test from the last dose so it could be a false negative). Anyways I was only taking Culturelle probiotics 1 pill a day from May 27th until my last of the 30-pill package on June 24th and I havent taken any probiotics or any type of meds ever since.

I know its a long intro to my situation but anyways my main question is, for the past 2 weeks i been going only once a day to make a BM before breakfast and there was times where after i wipe, my tp has B on it but not on my stool. Sometimes its loose stool sometimes they're more solid. I don't know if it is constipation or hemorrhoids or because of what I eat or PI-IBS but i experience a lot of rectal pressure all throughout the day almost everyday for 4 weeks sometimes my tailbone hurts and have the urge to make a BM but only gas is the one that passes so basically I really only pass stool in the morning before breakfast once a day and its rare for me to BM in the afternoon ever since my last dose of Vanco. I really hope this is just part of recovery. The past 4 days i feel some tenderness and pressure also around my left testicle area/inner thigh but its not a constant feeling its more like soreness. I am just wondering if anybody here ever experience these post treatment or anyone have insight on what this could be? Is it possible to have a relapse with constipation? I haven't talk to my dr since June 13th mainly because im so health anxious that whenever i complain to her i feel like she brushes me off. I'm always thinking of the worse case scenario i.e. Cancer and other stuff. By the way, I suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder too.

Any input or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Hello and Welcome to the site. Please read the first thread for all new posters

As far as your Post CDIFF symptoms go, things can really be all over the place Post CDIFF. We always recommend a call or visit with your GI if a symptoms of BL is seen. There are various reasons why but it's best to follow up and sometimes they will do an exam.
There are also medications for Post IBS if that is what you are dealing with. It can take time for the gut to heal so stick with a simple bland diet for awhile until things settle down. I continued with a probiotic post CDIFF( take VSL#3) because it helps with post IBS.

Get it checked out, hope you feel better soon

If your problem is mostly in the rectal area, you might try a colon and rectal specialist vs a GI. They can check for hemorrhoids or fissures. But, as Nancy said, these things do happen post c diff.
