Hey everyone I was diagnosed with cdiff after getting my wisdom teeth removed and being on antibiotics. I am 5 days into my vancomycin treatments and the d has stopped, no pain, nor run to the bathroom urges. My question is that the doctor prescribed me 6 days worth of vancomycin but I see a lot of people were prescribed 10 days worth. How long was yours? Thank you

My suggestion would be to contact your Pharmacist if you have questions on dosing, they will review the PACKAGE INSERT with you. The dose for CDIFF is clear. After reviewing, call your GI or the MD that gave you the RX . Especially if things are improving for you!

We can share our own experience. I was on Vanco for 10 days, relapsed 15 days later then on Vanco for a 3 month Pulse/Taper dose.

I relapsed after taking 14 days of Flagyl. I then had 14 days of Vancomycin. I relapsed again and called the doctor to ask for another 14 days of Vancomycin followed by tapering. That failed also. I was finally cured after taking 10 days of Dificid.

Most of the articles on the Internet say that the customary Vacomycin dose for treating C-diff is 125 to 500 mg orally four times daily for 10 to 14 days.

It is unusual for a doctor to prescribe only six days of Vancomycin. I hope that it works for you!

10 days minimum so query it with your Dr.
