No antibiotic use but I work with children if that helps. Back last year I had a migraine, one episode of loose stools and then tugging tummy cramps for a week. This then led to three weeks of diarrhoea some of those days the diarrhoea was bloody but then stopped. I also had horrendous, foul smelling gas and BM'S.
I was ok for a few months but at Christmas I then got the diarrhoea with streaks of blood in it again for 2 weeks as well as an unsettled stomach and again, vile smelling gas and BM'S. I am being referred for hospital tests as doctor thinks it is an inflammatory bowel disorder but I can't see how I can have that as-
1. I have no diarrhoea anymore or bleeding. From what I know IBD doesn't come and go like that.
2. I have never had pain or tenderness in the place where you are meant to have pain with IBD.
3. I don't have crippling lower stomach pain or urgency to use the bathroom.
4. I am in my mid thirties and never experienced anything like this before.
A friend mentioned C diff but I had stool samples done (2) and none came back with it. It just the bloody diarrhoea, the on/off nature of my symptoms and the smell seems to ring a bell. Can anyone advise?
Does this sound like C diff?

Hello and Welcome to the site Please read the first thread for all new posters
You are doing the right thing by seeing your doctor and getting tested, you didnt mention if you were seeing a GI but I would high recommend a consult with one.
There are so many GI issues a person can have that involve diarrhea, not just IBD or CDIFF.
I will note that most who are diagnosed with CDIFF DO have urgency and in my case pain and abdominal pain.
During your testing, if your doctor included CDIFF it would be a plain sample in a sterile container
Good luck with your testing, hope you feel better soon

Re: Does this sound like C diff?
If you already tested for Cdiff two times and both samples were negative and your symptoms are not classic Cdiff symptoms you should consider that something else is bothering you , maybe not necessarily IBD, but there are other pathogens that can give you bloody loose stools as well. Make an appointment with a specialist and ask to be tested for more illneses,

You are doing the right thing in having more tests, a close friend of mine had similar symptoms and has ulcerative colitis, but as poster said above it could be so many different things. Hoping you feel better soon!
