Other issues possible?

Postby mogran » Fri Dec 22, 2017 5:26 pm

Ever since I had the cdif in July of 2015 (caused by clindamycin) - which was cured after another antibiotic - I noticed other things happening. I started to lose hair and another thing is that I am having trouble finishing a sentence (verbally) I am working with a dermatologist about the hair but for some reason no one has mentioned that I may have something going on with my head (not related to the hair). Is it possible that this awful cdif could cause other parts of the body to be depleted?

My ENT doc said that any serious infection can cause damage throughout the body. (This was in reference to my vertigo, which may or may not be caused by cdiff.)

The hair issue has been brought up several times on the site, especially by those who have had multiple relapses, lost a great deal of weight etc. Poor nutrition which is common with CDIFF can cause hair loss among several other issues.

If you search the site, you will find the threads

As far as the cognitive issues you mentioned - did you take Flagyl? That has some nasty side effects to it for some people, including neurological.

I agree. That is why I am going to push to have some tests. For some reason, some doctors guess without really checking things.

No, I did not have Flagyl. I do not recall the name of the antibiotic that I was given after I was diagnosed but it was not that one.
