Vancomycin-when should it start working

Postby jdoo » Thu Sep 07, 2017 2:47 pm

Was diagnosed with c diff and took Flagyl 500mg four times a day for 12 days. Continued having 3-5 watery diarrheas a day so GI switched me to liquid Vancomycin on Tuesday 1/2 teaspoon four times a day(125mg). Still having watery diarrhea. I have no other symptoms like stomach cramping, feeling crappy, etc. When should I expect a response? Any help would be appreciated.

I would expect improvement by tomorrow morning. Are you able to eat? Maybe you could try some fiber to try to give you some bulk in your stool? I'd try some rice and bananas to see if that helps too.

Hello Jdo and Welcome to the site Please read the first thread for all new posters

If things don't improve call your GI. We often say give it 48-72 hours before you may see improvement.

Hope you feel better soon
