Post c.diff recovery and SIBO

Postby Dorbe » Mon Aug 14, 2017 11:38 am

I took a course of vancomycin in March 2017 and now test negative for c.diff. Now I test positive for potential pathogens; klebsiella and proteins mirabilis, and positve for SIBO. Does anyone else who had c diff now have SIBO. Have you had any luck treating the SIBO. What are you doing and what have you used? Any support would be appreciated.

Hi Dorbe and Welcome to the site. Please read the first thread for all new posters

Sorry you have to find us but it sounds like you are now POST CIDFF. There are several on the site who have had various problems POST CDIFF including SIBO. I Recovery can take some time and often these issues can come up, it is a process. I imagine you have been tested and your physician is now treating you.

Hopefully some with this experience will jump in and discuss their experience.

Take Care

I had a very bad case of SIBO - one of the highest breath tests the SIBO specialist had seen. I took Xifaxan and it improved the breath test from 150% (off the chart) to about 50%, still positive, but better. I was also able to eat more foods and my symptoms improved. I think one of our moderators took Xifaxan and said it helped as well.

Before you assume that you have SIBO, you would really need to have a breath test to see if that is the case. We have had posters who thought they had it only to test negative on breath test.
