Hello,
Does anyone know of a c diff specialist who does phone consults?
I'm nearly 4 months in recovery but am still having all sorts of problems. I'm so annoyed by all the Drs who keep telling me this is a 'minor diarrheal illness' and don't seem to have a clue about the damage this wreaked on my whole system.
And I'm still really trying to figure out if I can bring my dog home as she's been living with my friends since March as I believe she had c diff too. She has been symptom free since November and developed pancreatitis in February, which I now believe was a post c diff complication. I'm in touch with a vet specialist in Canada who is going to do additional testing to determine whether she is an asymptomatic carrier.
I'd also like an opinion from a human doctor, preferably one who has knowledge about asymptomatic carriers and zoonotic issues. I'm really looking for someone who will do phone consults.
Not being able to eat normal food or have an occasional drink or have energy to do much of anything is hard as is feeling so much of the time, but not having my dog with me is like a dagger through my heart. Any animal lover will understand.
Please send names my way. Much appreciated by my pup and me.

You're in Canada? Try to contact Dr Thomas Louie, if he's still practicing. Google him to find his most recent contact info.

Yes, Dr. Louie is a good choice. I corresponded with him via e-mail years ago. His e-mail is online.

Thank you so much.
I'm actually in New York, but the idea of going into an office of a c diff specialist is too much for me. I had PTSD and anxiety before this, and it's brought it on in a new way. I think going to a specialist's office would trigger that.
The vet is in Canada, as he's one of the only specialists I've found who deals with Zoonotic c diff issues. Can't believe it's someone's specialty, but I'm so glad it is! He's very nice and I will post all of the information he gave to me on the boards, so others can be informed about how to hand situations involving their beloved animals and c diff.
I will look for Dr Louie's contact info.
Thanks so much!

I am not sure if he does phone consults, but since you are in NY, I have heard very good things about Dr. Crawford. His info is listed under the "Doctors" forum on the Board Index. There is a list of doctors by state posted there. A few posters have been cured by him and he is a c-diff specialist. It may be worth a call. Maybe one of the posters will reply to you. If I wasn't cured by the last round of treatment that I did, he was my next stop. I am in NY also.
