32 year old new to site

Postby laceyl » Sun Jul 16, 2017 5:38 pm

I am a 32 year old female that was diagnosed a few months ago after taking antibiotics for a tooth infection.

I did 9 days flagyl and had an allergic skin reaction switched to 14 days vancomycin. One week later the diarrhea came back. Went back on 14 days vancomycin.

After 3 weeks toxin B test was negative. I'm about 6-7 weeks post my last vancomycin. No symptoms, however lately I get bad stomach aches. Is this post ibs? Should I be worried? I feel yucky when these days happen. Sucks.

Hi and welcome to the site. Please read the first forum for more information.

It could be IBS. It takes the digestive tract a long time to recover from c difficile. If it continues, talk to your GI about it. If you get D that doesn't subside, then I would get tested again.

A lot of us are left with food intolerances after c.diff. Can you connect specific foods to the stomach aches or is it all the time?

It just seems random.

My guess would either be that you may still be in recovery or food intolerances. I am learning that I can eat the exact same thing for 2 days and be OK.. eat the same thing on day 3 and I have pains and other symptoms.
Could also be stress as well. When I am particularly stressed with work or my 8 month old I notice a "flare" of pains from PI-IBS.

Hi laceyl, I'm 10 months since my last vanco and most days I'm very gassy. Before cdiff never problems with gas, I do eat a lot of fibre and fermented foods and also take bio k and save boukardi still.. my suggestion to you is dovadd 2-3 fermented foods in to your diet regularly. It will help heal your stomach and make sure Cdiff stays gone..

Is not uncommon to still have pains in the abdomen but that doesn't mean that cdiff is the cause , your gut is still irritated and anything you eat or even stress can trigger that. Try to relax , rest , eat well but bland and give your gut time to heal as time is the best healer.
Try a heating pad and some peppermint tea , helps with the pain.

I still get an ache in my right lower stomach on and off since I've had c diff. I notice my pain can flare up with my anxiety or what I've eaten. Hope you feel better.

Thank you all. I do add keifer, probiotic, as well as sauerkraut in my daily routine.
