I've been feeling relatively fine for nearly two years following the second course of Flagyl, but for the past 8 weeks or so I'm noticing some discomfort.

I had a weekend bout of food poisoning in late July that I never really recovered from. Now I'm always uncomfortable. Insides feel inflamed, gurgling, gassy. And more trips to the bathroom. I'm not really going constantly, per se, but I'm having more issues after eating. Just thinking about eating gives me a stomach ache! Even water gives me gas!

I really don't want to go back and be tested and do all that messy business again but if this keeps up I may have no choice. I'm trying to eat more conservatively to see if the inflammation cools down before seeing the doctor and having to scrape up the stool samples yet again.

My SIBO specialist has done studies about IBS and SIBO andit seems that when you have food poisoning, especially certain strains of bacteria like campylobacter, this can cause toxins that cause IBS and SIBO. There is a blood test for IBS called IBChek that can test for that. You may not be experiences c diff symptoms, although anyone with a history of c difficile would probably want that included in the tests. If it was food poisoning and you suspect that you still have some of the bacteria in you, ask for a stood culture as well and even one for ova and parasites.
