IMPORTANT NOTICE

According to well-known C. diff. researcher, "There will be a new treatment for CDI, IBS, colitis soon. An oral capsule of freeze-dried powder representative of all normal microbiota components to repair antibiotic-damaged flora."

I don't have more details, but hope is around the corner. I've known about C diff since l979 when my 4-yr. old son had it (and then again six years later). I had it from l993-l997, l999, and 2011, and worked on this site for l5 years. This is the best news I've heard in all these years. No need for invasive scopes, finding and testing a donor, traveling long distances, or trying more drugs that often kill some of the good as well as the "bad" C diff bacteria.

I don't know the name of the product yet or when it will be available, but the researcher told me it would be soon. Note the description given - CDI, IBS, colitis - so evidently no need for 2 or 3 positive c diff tests.

Will let you know more when I know more, and then we will celebrate!

Some of the best news I have heard in my whole life. I pray this is the year we can close the door on Cdiff and also help other gut ailments.

Can't wait to take these for my pi ibs !! I have been reading a lot about SER 109 moving into phase three clinical trials. Not only does it crowd out c diff but an unexpected side effect is that it encourages the growth of other good bacteria ! Does any one know how long it takes for commercial use approval once phase three trials commence ? I know the 48 million dollar funding is in place but just wondering what kind of time lien we are looking at here !?

This sounds amazing! I am happy to say that I have seen many posts on social media about FMTs and gut flora. The word of this disease is spreading quickly compared to when I would try to explain to someone what c.diff is, and what antibiotics do to our gut flora.

Ser 109 is not mentioned much on this board. SER-109 trial is starting this spring and I have been asked by a doctor I see who is involved in it to participate for the 8 week trial. I have heard only good things about this but because it is a trial I have some concerns. If I am still in the same shape I am now I will do the study. If anyone here has taken ser 109 could you please contact me I would be interested in talking to you. I have been given piles of literature by my doctor and I think this is very promising .

I've emailed Seres and been online every day to check for days, qualifications, locations, etc for the SER-109 trial. All I have been able to find is "early 2015". Meg, post or pm me. I'd love to know more. Thanks.

I wanted to do it, but because I have had FMT, I don't qualify. It sounds very promising and since it is not a medication, I am very interested. It sounds as if it can balance out the good flora and it is this imbalance that causes most of our post-c diff problems.

Megan 2,

We have a little info about Seres 109 on the site. Rebiotix is als conducting a study.

Will you give me the name and location of your doc., (if he OKs it; believe he is NYC) , other doc's involved in the trial, and any other info about the trial? Will it be a blind trial? (I was in a blind trial for S Boulardii - now Florastor - years ago.)

I will run the info by the site owner and put it on the site If the owner OKs it.

We need all the hopeful info possible. Did you read the CDC report I posted last night? Scary.
