Colonoscopies

Postby Bobbie » Sat Feb 10, 2007 2:23 pm

Colonoscopies (and Flex-sigs) are the most most common procedures used to determine C. diff. Both have risks (be sure & ask your docs. about them before the procedure).

Here are two articles from Medscape re. colonoscopies. The hyperlinks don't work but you can google. Bottom line: Try to have your test scheduled during the morning while the doc. is not as tired. Contrary to the belief of many(including some docs.), doctors are human & have the same frailities as the rest of us, including exhaustion. Many are overworked.

If you are on Flagl or Vanco. when you have a colonscopy, fleg-sig, or any other tests (such as stool cultures), this could negate the test. Best to be off meds. for 10 to 14 days -- l4 preferable.
