8 weeks after FMT and starting to feel bad

Postby jackie24 » Fri May 13, 2022 5:50 pm

I had my FMT 8 weeks ago today and I was doing good until today. Still have solid BM’s thank goodness but they are getting softer and my stomach has been killing be for the past two days! Leaving for North Dakota in two days on a plane and scared to death I am relapsing. Anybody get this far and relapse? Any suggestions?

It's unusual to relapse at this point, but anything is possible. I would have IBS days after FMT too. I took Pepto Bismol. That is what my doctor told me to do and it usually helped.

I took Pepto last night and it helped me get to sleep. This morning I feel bad again.

I remember having off days at that point after my fmt. It always helped me to eat a bland diet and cut back on sugar during those times. After my fmt I had trouble with some foods I never had trouble with before. I really did not seem to stop having off days until a year post fmt. 8 weeks is great. Probably just some post fmt ibs.

I am now 26weeks post FMT and I feel so bad!! I have tested negative twice but my abdomen kills ne constantly, I have a ton of yellow mucus that comes out with solid BM’s, and I have been in the bed for weeks! I have been to the ER and my bloodwork is fine and so is my CT except for some bowel gas. I am going around to doctors begging for relief from all this pain!!! Any suggestions?? BTW, I have lost 100 pounds this past year!

I felt really bad and could not eat much after my bouts with c diff and FMT. It turned out I had SIBO. If you have not already tested for that, talk to your GI about it. It is a breath test. My levels were one of the highest the doctor had seen and he is a SIBO specialist. I had to take Xifaxan to treat it. The Xifaxan did not make me relapse with c difficile, but it did help the SIBO.

It’s been almost 11 weeks since my FMT and I have been feeling terrible as well. Constantly bloated, abdominal distention, and very gassy. I am taking a SIBO test this Monday to determine if that’s what’s causing all this discomfort. From reading everyone’s post recovery messages, my only hope is that with time my gut will get better. Hoping you find some relief and answers to what is causing you all the discomfort and pain.
