Kefir after FMT?

Postby MrsM25 » Sun Jan 07, 2018 2:23 pm

I had my FMT 2 days ago and the doctor told me that I am able to eat yogurt. I am assuming that Kefir qualifies as well but I did not specifically ask him so, I’m wondering what everyone elses experience was following FMT? Were you allowed to drink Kefir?

My doctor specifically recommended kefir. I think it is lower lactose than yogurt also (fairly sure) so possibly easier to digest. I drank two to three cups a day for the first month after FMT. I still drink one cup a day. I was never a milk drinker, so in addition to supporting a healthy microbiome you get the calcium and vitamin d we need. There are 10-15 million CFU’s in a cup of lifeway kefir last I read. I also eat stonyfield organic yogurt because it has more bacteria strains than most other brands, and comes in the large affordable tubs.
