Home fmt question antibiotics first?

Postby kanak » Wed Jun 28, 2017 11:09 am

I would like to start home fmt as I have had two months that it took over 20 days to test positive. Is it important to have a round of vanco or dificid first before home fmt like they do with colonoscopy fmt? Doctor will not prescribe med without positive test.
Advice please

Usually it is recommended that you take an antibiotic first, but not always. What is recommended is that you do a laxative prep first and clean yourself out to try and rid your intestines of as much of the bacteria as is possible and to give the new flora a chance to coat the lining of your colon.

Normally you should take the meds and a prep to wipe out the pathogenic bacteria if you want to give your starter culture a chance to survive and multiply.
