Probiotics or not after FMT?

Postby LisaAnne » Mon Apr 24, 2017 3:28 pm

My 14-yr old son had an FMT at the Mayo Clinic 5 weeks ago. We then stopped all probiotics and kombucha, so as not to disrupt the new Microbiota from populating (as I was told from others who have been through this). The doctor recommended kefir which he drinks a few times daily. Recently he has had some discomfort and little pain along with mucous. Wondering if I should start him back on Florastor and/or probiotics. I would greatly appreciate any recommendations on probiotics or not after FMT.

I would ask the Dr who performed the FMT but my Dr had me start Florastor a few weeks post FMT. Almost a year later I still take florastor and drink kombucha daily.

Is it good to drink kefir right after a FMT? My thought is the probotics in it. I wish doctors gave you more information, they are naive on before and after an FMT.
