Fmt & metabolism?

Postby Overthis » Thu Sep 15, 2016 4:32 pm

Does anyone know if there is a direct correlation between FMT and improved metabolism. I have always struggled with my weight but since my fmt I've noticed I'm slowly losing weight without trying. I'm not complaining at all but just curious if its possible. Thanks!

Possibly.
There's some proof that using an obese done has caused the recipient to become obese!
If that's correct then it has to be true the other way around.

YES!! You can become slim if you used a slim donor without keeping diets or anything , or you can become obese if your donor was obese. In Romania , naso-gastric infusions are done (at "Matei Bals" hospital ) as trials for those who want to lose weight.

I kept losing weight after my FMT, but it had nothing to do with a skinny donor. My donor is not that thin. It just took my body a long time to get over the shock, plus I had IBS and SIBO, so that prevented me from having a normal diet. I could not eat the same way as before c difficile.

I just had my 2nd FMT today and asked this exact question. My GI Doctor said its been proven in mice to take stool from an obese mouse and the other mouse will become obese, and vice Versa. Not yet proven on humans but I know openbiome screens their donors and they must have a certain BMI to be a donor.

Yes, I read that study some time ago. It is definitely interesting. I used someone heavier than me and it did not make me gain weight. Maybe it has to be something more extreme, not mid-range.

Beth- I too had someone heavier than me with my first FMT and did not gain weight. So maybe it is the extremes like you said
