Fmt today
Had my 1st fmt via colonoscopy today. I'm confused as to how long i was actually able to hold the specimen. I looked at the clock as i was being put under it said 7:14am and the minute the propofol wore off i couldn't hold it. The time then was 822am so did i hold it for an hour? I know i lost all the specimen bc i went a lot. I'm hoping and praying that some of the good bacteria latched on. I'm having lots of gurgling feelings and just blah feeling. We used an openbiome donor. I think i just need some reassurance. I was also given an Imodium as i was going potty (a lil late i think lol)

You'll be fine. The bacteria should've seeded. You'll have weird BM's up and down for the next couple of weeks.

We hear this often and so far everyone reports back that things went well. You should be fine, give yourself time to recover.
Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you everyone! I know I've only been battling cdiff for a few months where others have suffered years but I'm just so over this nightmare. God bless all of you!

Did your doc mention diet to you. Some recommend fiber to "feed" the new bacteria. Ask him or her.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Nope my dr said good luck and he was gone. I asked my rn if i needed to follow any diet and she said no just listen to what your body craves.

Re: Fmt today
Overthis,
I had a colonoscopy FMT done in June and was only able to hold it for about 40 minutes...3 months later and I feel pretty good! I retest next week (not bc of symptoms but rather my dr wanted to retest at 3 month mark). I too felt like I lost the entire transplant and my BMs were all over the place for the first 2 weeks. Even to this day I have good and bad days but overall I'm confident that I've beaten this thing. Hang in there!

Overit
So glad you are feeling better , but I'm a little confused about why your doctor wants to test if symptoms are gone? Even if , God forbid , your test comes back positive , if symptoms are not present , there is no need for further treatment.

I held mine in for a few hours but my donor specimen was a very small amount! The doctor was even concerned if it was enough and it was. So I'm sure you are fine! Best of luck and keep us posted

Even if you held in only enough to cover a pin head that's billions of natural seeds that are normal gut flora!!
Far more than 50 bottles of probiotics and even more important the ones that can grow and colonise your gut to beat back c.diff.
Now wait for them to grow.

Georgina,
My FMT was done as part of a study at my hospital so the test is just to post results to the study. My dr. was very clear that if I have no symptoms and I was positive he would not treat me.
