FMT DON TODAY AND THE URGE TO GO

Postby dexter » Wed Jun 08, 2016 8:09 pm

Today June 8 I had my FMT via scope. I was told by a fellow c differ who had this procedure and she told me to hold my bowel movements as long as possible. However I'm having a difficult time doing that. Is this ok to go or was the procedure done for nothing. I went about an 1 HR 1/2 after I woke up and 2 times since getting home. Any feedback for me

Thanks

Hello Dexter and Welcome to the site. Please read the first thread that has all info for new posters.

I am sure others who have had an FMT will jump in here but it has been a concern of many who have had them. I have not had an FMT but we have had people post the same concern in this forum.

From what I understand is yes, you hold it as long as you can but sometimes that is not possible. You will still get the benefits of the FMT.

Give your GI a call, let him know your concerns.

Hope you feel better soon!

Hi Dexter
Congrats for having done a FMT, is has a high cure rate. After FMT is done it is recommended to be held in as much as you can, although there were people here that lost a part of the donation after they woke up and their FMT did take hold. I've read that one pearson managed to keep the donation in just 15 minutes and she was cured.

Thanks everyone for getting back on my question I am going to call the docs office today if I should be concerned. Even when I would just pee it would come out ugh. I hope I didn't go thru all of this to it not being successful cuz I couldn't hold it.

The FMT had long enough to seed your gut with the new bacteria.
What you had put in is a tiny amount compared to the full bacteria population.
Now you have to wait for that to multiply and return your gut to normal.
Dont expect a magic cure, it can take a while.

If you feel like it do it.
Listen to your body though and if it objects take a break.
