Dr. Shepard Probiotic and FMT treatment

Postby gwang » Tue May 17, 2016 1:54 pm

Has anyone here ever gone to Dr. Shepard? I had C-diff that was treated with FMT in the hospital but still have lingering IBS symptoms even 4 months out.

I noticed that when I take Elixa probiotic, Kefir and Lactobacillus Reuteri I feel probably 75% normal. Brain fog, bowel movements, stool shape, abdominal pain and gas are reduced. This was also confirmed on my uBiome test as it showed I didn't have any Lactobacillus or Bifidobacteria strains (even after FMT).

I spoke with Dr. Shepard and he thinks my on going symptoms is due to dysbiosis and he recommended that I take his probiotic pills (they are non-FMT) and do FMT enemas (that he will provide). Just wondering if anyone on this board has gone to him and had any success with his donors / treatments.

Welcome to the site. Before posting further, please read the first thread on the homepage, entitled "PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU POST. Rules, Standard Intro, Testing."

I've not heard of Dr. Shepard; perhaps other posters have. What is his first name and where is he located? Or is he an online vendor? Without having more information about him, it's hard to form an opinion as to his methods. However, my initial thought is that I'd not risk my health by using an FMT enema obtained from a donor who had been vetted only by an online vendor.

I believe that there are a couple of posters that have gone to him. If you do a search on Shepard, the posts should come up. Some may be old posts, but you can try to PM the poster to see if they can share their experience with this doctor.

Lisa is right, there are a number of older entries. Dr. David Shepard; practices in Tampa, FL.

I think that Skizamii received his last FMT at dr.Shepard's clinic in Tampa.

Skizammi is in bad shape so I didn't want to bother him.

Also it would be hard to tell if his current symptoms are due to the FMT or something else.

I initially was going to see Dr Shepard, but my gut told me to keep looking. He is no longer on OpenViome list of providers.

Wondering who has had a successful FMT with him?

I saw him and his attempt was unsuccessful. I'm going to assume he's not on open biome anymore because he uses his own bank of donors.
