UNC Hospitals (Chapel Hill, NC), is not as far from us (30 miles) as Alamance Regional (Burlington, NC--60 miles). I have the following worries abt UNC though:
a) they don't have a donor bank so you have to have a donor & do testing ($$$)
b) they put it in the terminal ileum (if possible, whatever that means)
Now, in contrast, Alamance uses their own staff as donors (riskier than using my husband?)
Also, they mix milk with it to "feed the good bacteria"
Don't know abt the terminal ileum yet
But then you must lie down for 4 hrs after. Need a babysitter for 8-12 hrs then including travel time.
Thoughts? Experiences with either of these? It's likely going to be a referral soon, but they said I could choose whichever place.

Re: Question abt different FMT places
Hi Foots
I don't have any information on either of these.
I did see the one FMT specialist here in my area who has done a great deal of them and is very knowledgeable. One thing he did say to me, he would not use anyone who is the the healthcare field as a donor. He made that very clear to me because I am a Healthcare provider and have people very close to me who work in the field and offered to be my donor. He would not consider them.
My husband ended up doing the testing but the Dificid cleared me and I did not have to proceed.

Hi Foots
Good to hear you are planning to do a FMT.I never heard of mixing mix with stool and i'm not sure if that won't cause diarreah after FMT since most people have problems with dairy after CDiff.About using staff members , when i had my FMT my mom was donor , and my mom is a nurse just like me but they tested her and she was clear.

I have never heard of mixing stool with milk either. A lot of people become lactose intolerant. Most doctors use saline solution.
