So I've had 3 FMT's via colonoscopy, none were effective. Each time the symptoms returned, so Mayo and the rest of my doctors thought that a FMT via gastric tube would be best. I am scheduled for one at Henry Ford in Detroit on Friday.
my question is this...I've been told that we have to be "cleaned out" and do the bowel prep prior to FMT's so the donor stool enzymes can be absorbed into the GI tract. With the top down one however they are saying that I don't need to do the bowel prep, which makes me nervous. How is the donor stool going to get absorbed and displace the c. diff if I'm not cleaned out?

Re: "Top Down" FMT
Some experts think "top down" procedure can cause SIBO - and it has for several of us.
We can not answer your question as it is medical. Please ask your doc.
Best of luck. Let us know how it goes.

Re: "Top Down" FMT
When I had FMT from the top down, I did not have to do any prep either.
