FMT at Mayo in Rochester

Postby gm37 » Thu Sep 03, 2015 9:08 am

On July 15 I had a FMT at Mayo Clinic at Rochester. After an 8 year battle with c-diff, I am better than I have been since getting this illness.
I called Mayo myself. They gave me an appointment 5 weeks away. I sent them my records including two positive c-diff tests from April and May of this year. I saw Dr. Khanna on July 14. He discussed the procedure and his nurse did some education videos with me. I did the prep and blood tests that day. The procedure was the next day, July 15. Everyone was wonderful and encouraging. I met with Dr. Khanna again on the 16th and headed home. His nurse has called me once a week to check on my progress.
Within a month, my stools are back to a normal state, something that has not happened since getting c-diff. My bill was $4200 and Medicare is paying so I don't know yet if I will owe anything. I am hoping that this all continues and I stay healthy.
If you want more info, you can PM me. Mayo Clinic in Rochester does 10 FMTs a week. They have a stool bank from donors who are employees at Mayo. It was all much easier than I had thought.

I'm so happy to hear that Anne! I know you had problems for years with PI-IBS, etc. Maybe it was low grade c diff all along. Wishing you to be rid of c diff at last!. I got diagnosed almost 8 years ago as well.
