Cost of FMT

Postby Bobbie » Tue Feb 25, 2014 7:00 pm

Several posters reported the cost of their FMT was in the "ball park" of $2,000.00 Some of this might be covered by insurance.

pinkangel provided this information:

Call tricare directly tomorrow and ask if it is covered and if you have to take a certain number of meds first. Tricare standard has been great so far. It has covered Dificid, and Vanco, with just a cost override call from the pharmacy and my fmt colonoscopy part was billed to Tricare. My doctor here in FL did not take it for the infusion and poop pill part but I know one here in Florida that does.

if you have tricare insurance, call directly and check to see if covered for fmt. If not then you could switch to tricare standard and it is covered. The CPT code is 44705 for FMT but some doctors just bill it as a colonoscopy. I have always used tricare standard because it is so much easier than being seen by military doctors. I was never diagnosed properly while on prime so years ago I switched. You do not need referrals for any specialists and that is great as well. I am not sure what area you are in but some states have trials for fmts as well.
