Donors & Required Tests for Donors/Donees

Postby Bobbie » Thu Jan 30, 2014 1:53 pm

Doctors differ here again, but most recommend a blood relative (some say a grown child is best) or a long-term partner like a husband/wife or companion. The donor SHOULD NOT not have taken antibiotics within the last six months before the procedure.

Donors and donee must be tested. Most doctors recommend tests for: Hepatitis A,B,C, RPR EIA, HIV I,II, C Diff toxin PCR, Stool for culture, ova, parasites, shigella, campylobacter.

New method of obtaining donors - donor bank

This makes FMT easier, cheaper, safer and more widely available. The company provides hospitals with screened, filtered, and frozen material ready for clinical use. This service eliminates the time, staff, protocols, and facilities needed to screen and prepare material from new donors for each treatment. A doctor must be involved.
