We spend a lot of time talking about the bad news in this discussion group - here's the spot for the good news. If you've had c-diff and are now well, please tell us about it here.

Sucessful fecal transplant

Postby sprinklergal » Tue Aug 07, 2012 10:38 pm

3+ months after my fecal transplant and I am still free of c-diff! I have had no problems with my bowels at all! Yea , Yea Yea! I want to urge people who have had multiple relapses to really urge their Drs to try the fecal transplant.2 years of suffering is over, overnight! Simple, inexpensive and natural. Just make sure your donor goes on a diet where they only eat things that can be squashed between the tines of a fork. That keeps things simple. My only problem now is repeated utis that My Dr will not treat with antibiotics . I'm drinking tons of water and that is working.I'll continue to keep you posted.

Wonderful news! Thanks for posting. Did you use a blood relative or family member as your donor?

Nothing beats a fecal transplant for C DIff but I'm going to start on a comprehensive multi probioitc. The concept behind taking both are the same. I found out from my doctor that it's called "bacterial interference." If probiotics and antibiotics don't work then I may have to resort to a fecal transplant!
C Diff run - Run Diff Run! :)

My anti C diff recurrence regiment: Daily intake of Lifeway Kefir (15-20 billion CFUs and 12 strains!), boulardii + lactobacillus probiotics (I use Nexabiotic 23 strain multi-probiotic)

you can't compare regular probiotics to fecal transplants.
there are 35,000!! different species of bacteria (and from each strain you have trillions) , and 1800 different genera).
In regular probiotics there are only 2 ! genera - lactobacillus and bifidobacterium.
And that all!
I don't understand why people attached only to this 2 genus, when there so many others.

sprinklergal,
Keep drinking! Worked for me for a long time but do have another UA & culture. After I developed C.diff., pneumnia was my nemisis so C. diff. kept reoccuring. Now it's UTI's. You might try a natural product called D. Mannoose. Google it and check with doc.

Probiotics don't work sometimes because the acid in our stomach destroys some of the good bacteria. Many times I don't think they have helped me (although others swear by them) once when I had pneumonia, I believe VSL3 helped me avoid another bout of C. diff. Google it - expensive.

Always "run" any info. on this site by your doc. as this isn't a medical site.

Hi Bobbie, I'm still not better, I want to find a good donor or to find other way to bring me a diversity of bacteria.

Noga, contact doc. in Holland - sounds like your "best bet." Will check on other docs. in Europe but it might take awhile. Know how isolated your feel. Keep posting. Your English is good!

Sending you info. about other docs. in Europe with contact info. - don't know much else about them. I'd contact them and tell them your circumstances. Good luck.

Hi! I haven't posted for awhile, even though I visit at least once a month. I had a successful stool transplant in December 2011 after dealing with recurrent Cdiff for over a year, treated with everything from flagyl to dificid, with only temporary relief. The stool transplant worked immediately. I have been doing wonderful since then, back to work, excercise, life! I have a whole new outlook, and it all seems like a fading nightmare now. I hope if any of you who have been reluctant to try the stool transplant will seriously think about it......it's not as bad as it sounds. I would do it again without blinking an eye.

Wishing for good health for all, and an end to CDIff forever!!!

Janet
