Finally reporting in with my success...

We spend a lot of time talking about the bad news in this discussion group - here's the spot for the good news. If you've had c-diff and are now well, please tell us about it here.

Finally reporting in with my success...

Postby musicgirl180 » Tue Nov 17, 2009 2:20 am

Hello all-

I should have done this months ago...

I'm 39. Third bout of CDIFF. First time about 8 years ago after taking Augmentin. I relapsed and was sick for over 7 months. In the beginning, I didn't understand what CDIFF meant so I wasn't as afraid. The doctors lost my tests and didn't get back to me, so by the time the diagnosis came in I was already 2 weeks in. I'd later believe that for me, getting treatment asap would prove important in how long I'd have to suffer with the bug. I was so sick. I'd roll over in the middle of the night and that would be enough to make me go. I finally found a specialist who knew about Saccro B and pulse dosing.

A few years later, I came down with an ear ache and a new doc told me you can't get CDIFF twice and put me on antibiotics. A week later I was admitted to the hospital and treated presumptively. I relapsed only once or twice and was back to life. Again, I attribute quick treatment, SACCRO B, also set the alarm to take other good flora in the middle of the night. I tried all sorts of good bacteria. I also ate lotsa oatmeal, smoothies, fancy yogurts.

In late 2007, I got sick--no antibiotics. Still don't know how, I took some magnesium and my frig stopped working. On Christmas morning, I was so dizzy I couldn't even open the gifts placed on my bed. This was the beginning of a one year one month journey that would change my life forever.

I kept relapsing. Saw so many doctors. I was told I must be wrong (tests must be wrong) by top doctors, or stress or immune problems. Most didn't believe I could still be sick. I had fevers for 9 months. I left my job. FINALLY, I got better. Here's what worked this last time: After countless attempts. I took Vanco and Flagyl at the same time, things changed immediately. Then I continued with a taper for 6 months. And now I'm 9 months healthy. I believe it's hard to heal when the antibiotics keep killing the good guys. I also liked using powered Colostrum in my smoothies...

It scared me to get CDIFF without antibiotics, but I got food poisoning about 2 months after going off meds. I was so scared and angry, but it didn't come back. During that time, I was in a bad relationship. All of that is gone...success. I'm sad about the lost time and hope that my outlook continues to improve.

It was scary; there were moments like when my belly ended up with bruises all over it, when I thought I won't make it through. But I'm here on the other side and you can be too.

I don't think about it much any longer even though it may come back one day.

My best to all of you. I read and reread your posts when I was sick. No one else understood. I was hoping I'd open the site tonight and see that it was quiet--like CDIFF had gone away for all of us.

Oh yeah, I found a site that sells stuffed animal microbes including CDIFF ones!
