What a long crazy year. When you have c diff you really are aware of every day, every cramp, every meal. I have (knock wood) been back to "my normal" for a while after a very long time of post c diff IBS. I had a check up colonoscopy several weeks ago which thru my intestines into chaos for a bit, but they have settled and the study was normal. I have gained back most of the 15 lbs lost, eat pretty normally. C diff and the malnutrition that I experienced left me w/some ongoing re-building. I am cautiously optimistic moving forward. But I know that I will always have some post traumatic c diff stuff. And I sure don't take good health for granted. I can easily become anxious about ingredients or the thought of an antibiotic for a uti- for me or anyone near to me. This site got me thru everything. The generosity and support from this group is the best medicine there is and honestly pulled me through some pretty dark and overwhelmed times. I was also lucky to eventually find a good gastro specialist. She didn't frighten me and she was available for frantic emails and endless requests for retesting. The medical system is so challenging to navigate and specialists so tricky to get into.
So I just wanted to report my status a year later. I have run into more and more folks who have suffered in silence and felt so alone. Thank-you to all of you.

Thanks so much for posting, I love to hear updates on recovery!! SO very true about the entire issue with physicians and dealing with this terrible illness. Great news you have reached your new normal and also found a GI you are confident in.
