Bloating, oral lesions, and occasional cramps post-C.Diff

We spend a lot of time talking about the bad news in this discussion group - here's the spot for the good news. If you've had c-diff and are now well, please tell us about it here.

Bloating, oral lesions, and occasional cramps post-C.Diff

Postby Levels89 » Mon Oct 15, 2012 12:27 am

I feel 1 MILLION times better now that I have been C.Diff free for 8 months and I am positive that it won't be coming back :) I feel great except for some moderate bloating, occasional oral lesions (not ulcers) when I eat something my gut doesn't agree with, and SOMETIMES I'll wake up with a very very light stomach cramp if I had eaten something the day before that I was "sensitive" to. These weird digestive symptoms seem to enjoy sticking around.

All of my blood work is normal except for a low vitamin A and D count that I'm taking care of with supplements and an elevated ANA level (1:640) when just last December my ANA level was perfectly normal. Odd. 1/3 women get false ANA readings so I'm hoping that was the case. As I said, I've feeling pretty damn swell so I'm pretty confident, but still praying, that SLE isn't going to be the Dx. I'll be seeing a rheumatologist in 2 weeks to confirm. BUT otherwise, everything else looked great across the charts.

I have tried every diet in the book to completely heal the gut and other organs from the C.Diff that, unfortunately for me, went misdiagnosed for 7 months since last June. Since I'm already 8 months C.Diff free I feel like everything should be running perfectly again. Currently I'm on a bone broth and meat diet thinking that eliminating fiber completely for a few weeks could be an answer. Pathetic, I know, but I keep hitting walls. Is anyone still experiencing similar symptoms post-C.Diff? If so, what have you done to heal?

Great news. This is our most popular and hopeful forum. Thx. for posting and keep us informed about your progress. Hopefully, eventually you should be "back on track" food wise. I'd add other foods gradually - be particularly careful about milk products and excess sugars.

I was recently told to take curcumin by a GI SIBO specialist and also the rheumatologist. It is supposed to help the gut as well as mucles/joints. I just bought it today and will give it a go. You might ask your doctor about it. I am 2.5 years post c diff and still have issues. Not very happy about it at all.

Assuming your doctor has OKed your situation and said all of this isn't due to something else, have you considered a certified nutritionist? Most of us are just shooting at the dark when dealing with things like healthy diets, running with whatever the internet says is best... someone like that might be able to help you sort things out a bit!
