Do any of you ladies experience bleeding with ovulation?

Since c-diff is a disease of the "lower half", so to speak, we find that many of our members cannot refrain from discussing what comes out the bottom end. If you must do it, please do it here.

Do any of you ladies experience bleeding with ovulation?

Postby Jenny » Thu Apr 24, 2008 10:09 am

This is a first for me. I am usually on the pill and even when I am not supposed to be ovulating I do expeience the cramps etc associated with O. They put me on Loestrin 24 which gave me a very nice 3 day period and much less pain around O. I have not been able to take my pills since Christmas. I did miss 2 periods but then it seemed as though things started to become regular. Last night LOTS of Cramping in back and front. Hard to pinpoint though and O pains for me are usually very specific. This am blood in undies and D more so than what is usual lately. I have heard that some women experience D with O due to cramping. I don't see my OB for another 6 weeks. Ofcourse nothing is the norm anymore anyway. Just frustrated and there's always something else to worry about.

The D is a bit of a worry as I have stopped ALL MEDS including probiotics and haven't started the Vanco yet. It will be ready tonight. Feeling lousy in so may ways, I can't seem to seperate out what is causing what pain. RA, C-diff , Ovulation. It's all drving me nuts and oh so emotional:(

I can't believe it was 85 deg here yesterday and I'm going to go out and buy a heated throw. Good idea cindym. I used to just put my throw in the dryer but that doesn't last too long.

Thanks for any experiences or info,

Take Care

Hey Jenny,
sorry to hear you are feeling down. I had many difficulties with my periods during cdiff, my hormones spun completely out of control and I bled way to much and nothing was preditable. Tried to convince the gyne of that but he said they are not connected - okay - that is my usual response when I know no matter what I say they have their own views and no patient of theirs is going to change their mind.
I'm 43 and have had a tubal ligation but they put me on the pill to see if they can regulate me a bit better as I also have a fibroid in my ovaries. He want to talk lyposcopic(sp) surgery but I said I'm not going there and told him about Jan's story. He again just looked at me and said he has done x amount of surgeries over the years and has never had this happen nor do people die from cdiff unless it is left untreated - I had also told him about the lady in vancouver who had a fibroid removed and all sorts of complications set in and she died at a young age. So again I said -okay, and I respect your view and experience but I feel quite differently and I will not consider surgery until it is absolutey necessary.
I was having my period every 2-3 weeks and lasting 8-12 days. Last month was the first time I had a regular cycle since last June.
Hopefully your pain is not associated with cdiff and it will pass in a day or two it must be very worrisome. Why did you go off the pill?

Wow Carrie,

I can't imagine having periods like that. I had been on the pill for so long I had forgotten what it was like to have a real period. The thought of every 2 -3 weeks for 8-12 days is scary. I know I suffer with PMS. My family would have to leave, no kidding! I came off the pill at my pcp's suggestion when this all first started. Many contraceptive pills affect your gut flora, and those that do not don't work well when your gut flora is changed, they are not absorbed. So there was no point really, and since my dh & I did not have sex for 3 months it really was not a worry. Now though I am not sure what we are going to do. ID doc says still no meds except for the vanco I am about to start again for a month. I will soon be looking for alternatives to the pill, but infection is always a risk and I want to avoid AB's obviously. If I ever get back on my RA meds, pregnancy is a definate NO NO. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it I guess.

Take Care

I wish it was 85* here! Our weather has been so messed up today is 40-50* with rain and snow! Anyways Back to the subject- I started the pill for hormone reasons(anxiety) and actually did really well for a while then she thought she change it and only have me get my period every 10 weeks and that messed me all up! Cramps so bad I thought I was gonna pass out! and bled for a long time. But also around that time of the months I get looser stools too. They say hormones have a big factor on IBS thats why more women get it than men.

Contraceptive pills change your stomach flora? My gnye said it should have no effect on my flora??? God it is hard to know what the right thing to do is! I decided that my rollercoaster hormones and early periods must be impacting my stomach flora in a negative way and making it difficult to rebuild so I went on the pill. I figured if for 21 days it could rebuild then getting through the next seven wouldn't be so difficult on rebuilding phase. It felt so good this month to actually go a full cycle, unbelievable actually it was like one full extra week of semi relief. I just which there was more knowledge and that informationm shared with the specialists who need to know!

Yup now I find birth control can impact your gut flora.(at least it says that somewhere on a few websites)......does this ever stop, I thought I was doing something good for restoring my flora. My GI did not mention a thing about flora, although my only other option is more invasive and I don't want to travel that route either. Is anyone aware of what pills might impact the gut flora more. I hate knowing to much, it is just less I can control. I feel like a sitting duck, I swear.

Carrie,

I really don't know the facts of it. I think it has something to do with POP's as against Combined pills which contain estrogen. They both work differently. POP pills are not dependent on gut flora but are affected by D or vomiting so antibiotics don't appear to be quite such a worry, unlike with combined pills which require healthy flora to be absorbed. Either way I would use extra precautions anyway. I believe there are some issues with the estrogen and the immune system but I really don't remember. I just know he said no meds except vanco for me and that includes any contraceptive pill. Sorry I can't elaborate more.

well mine seemed to work last month so maybe that is a good thing that there was good flora to help it work. I just would really like to ensure I'm on the right track, what a battle.
