changes in bowel movements
Sorry for the details and questions but just wondering others experience. I recently quit using the probiotic VSL#3 as I thought it might be contributing to my ongoing bowel issues. Since quitting my BM's have certainly changed and I wonder about others experience with this. All my bowel movements now float. This was not the case while on VSL. Many are still very distressed but other days are just regular floating BM's. It seems very strange to me and I know there are many reasons this can happen but I can't help but feel it continues to be a bowel flora thing. Did anyone else experience the same?

interesting that is what they say but I eat very little fat and gas well that certainly has increased but not to the degree that I would think it would changes things, I really don't eat to much fibre although gas could come from refined products also I suppose. I just never had the issues while on VSL#3 and I ALWAYS have them float now

I remember reading that a lot of the weight in our feces is bacteria, so maybe now that your are not taking the VSL#3 you have less bacteria (and less weight) to get rid of. I think once our own intestinal flora is restored (4-6 weeks after antibiotics, if everything goes well), it's time to reduce the probiotics or they may cause bloating, gass, and other CDiff-like symptoms. I had that problem myself.
