Does anyone else have this problem?

Since c-diff is a disease of the "lower half", so to speak, we find that many of our members cannot refrain from discussing what comes out the bottom end. If you must do it, please do it here.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Postby arlyed » Fri Nov 30, 2007 1:31 am

One of the earliest symptoms that I noticed before I was officially diagnosed with C-diff was anal itching, burning, and extreme rectal/ anal discomfort. My GI specialist said that this might have been because the C-diff manifested primarily in the distal colon/rectal area. I have had a negative stool specimen and a colonoscopy that showed divertictum and "one small hemorroid". Since I have been "cured" of C-diff, I have been plagued by anal itching and burning which had never been a problem for me before I contracted C-diff. I have had the "small hemorroid" since I had my son 17 years ago, and I think that the diverticultum is not terribly new either.
Anyone else having this problem? I have been using hygenic wipes, witch hazel, and hemorroid suppositories to combat this problem- does anyone have any other suggestions? Diet does not seem to make a difference and nothing else seems to help... I hate to think I'm destined to a life of having an itchy, sore bum- squirming doesn't help~~~~ :( . Anyone out there that can help???
Thanks!!!
Arlye

You could be dealing with a yeast infection in the anal area. I have had them on several occasions and it is very UNCOMFORTABLE to say the least! Ask your doctor for cream. Good luck!

Forgot to say I have also bought the cream that is used for vaginal yeast infections to use outside the anal area and it really brought quick relief.

I used diaper rash cream/zinc like Penaten when I had a hemorroid removed as I had itching while healing, surgeon recommended it. Worked like a charm and still use it during c-diff when I've had multiple bowel movements, instant comfort

My GI doc prescribed a 2.5% hydrocortisone cream. You can also buy Tucks over the counter; it is 1%.
