false negative?

Since c-diff is a disease of the "lower half", so to speak, we find that many of our members cannot refrain from discussing what comes out the bottom end. If you must do it, please do it here.

false negative?

Postby Karen58 » Thu Oct 04, 2007 10:10 am

I've been off vanco for almost two weeks I have days of soft stools and days of very watery stools both with mucus present. Sometimes I feel like I have to have a BM and all that comes out is globs of mucus. I always wear a sanitary pad because I leak mucus throughout the day. I had a negative test a few days ago and have an appt with a specialist on the 10th. My concern is that the nursing home where I work doesn't want me returning to work until I no longer have c diff. Any thoughts or opinions would be so appreciated. Thanks.[/b]

I also work in a continuing care centre and have been off since August. I really miss working, never thought I'd say that! They are not eager to have me return until I'm clear (can't say as I blame them)and as we enter flu season I'm feeling aprehensive myself about all the germs I might expose myself and others to. I'm presently pulsing and won't be finished until early December. I'm not sure what I should do in the mean time, I feel well enough to work at least half days and have a call in to my manager. I'd try and get another couple stool samples in. My doctor said I only needed one sample but I managed to get in four and it was my fourth that finally showed positive. That is just my opinion though and I'm kinda new to this so I'm learning and listening to my body.

Carrie,
Sounds as though you have good instincts. It is your body, & you know it better than a doctor during a brief visit. Be sure & call him/her, however, if your symptoms become worse.
