dark urine

Since c-diff is a disease of the "lower half", so to speak, we find that many of our members cannot refrain from discussing what comes out the bottom end. If you must do it, please do it here.

dark urine

Would Vanco, Culturelle, or FloraQ cause your urine to darken? If not , what would?

There may be many specific causes of dark colored urine...some are medication related.
Outside of any known specific cause, the most common culprit is simply not drinking enough water

It just started last night and this morning....I have been drinking water, but more soft drinks though, think it could be anything serious?

Jodie,
Do as Allison suggested & drink more water. (8 glasses a day is usually suggested.) Many people with C. diff. can't tolerate "soft drinks" -- too much sugar.

If your symtoms persist, & you are concerned, call your doc. We are not doctors & no one can diagnose you via the Internet.

I know flagyl does this, and many other meds can too. Always check with your doc and make sure you are drinking enough!

While on Flagyl my urine is dark. I mentioned this to my Doc and he said as long as I don't have any symptoms of a uti to continue the med. When I finished the med, urine went back to normal color

If you read on the pamphlet that they give you when you get your prescription filled it say's right on there that one of the side effects is harmless darkening of the urine. I remember that because it was the only side effect that I had from the Vano. Always check the pamphlet that they give you, that is why they give it to you.

Jodie- Usually dehydration manifest itself with dark urine thus you need to drink more fluid. Carbonated drinks go right through you and do not hydrate like water. Also if drinking more water does not help you need to contact your doctor because blood can also make the urine darker in color. I know this firsthand due to kidney stone problems!
