Does pepto affect stool

Since c-diff is a disease of the "lower half", so to speak, we find that many of our members cannot refrain from discussing what comes out the bottom end. If you must do it, please do it here.

Does pepto affect stool

Postby Tsc1964 » Fri Feb 03, 2017 1:52 pm

I have been having stools where there is no mucus floating in stools but comes out like grittly soft serve with brownish grey color but it looks like oily. I notice this the day after take pepto even tiniest bit. I dont think pepto affects consistency but that color is odd because so dark.

Yes, pepto can cause dark/black stools. They explain it on their website - http://www.pepto-bismol.com/en-us/faq/b ... ack-tongue

If grey continues get your gall bladder checked.
That might answer for many of your problems.

Experience has shown me that Pepto does impact consistency as well. Oily and sticky are not unheard of after Pepto. Wait a day or two--usually 3 days after Pepto is when that goes away, for me. If it persists, Roy's advice is sound.

At the recommended dose it can turn your stool black.
Scarey stuff!
It does not remove the bile secretions that give stool the brown colour.
If stool remains grey get it checked out.
C.diff is c.diff!
But is sure does show up any other pre existing gut condition.
