Getting Sick

Since c-diff is a disease of the "lower half", so to speak, we find that many of our members cannot refrain from discussing what comes out the bottom end. If you must do it, please do it here.

Getting Sick

Postby bnwood9 » Sat Aug 27, 2016 6:19 pm

Has anyone experienced this?

I'm about two weeks or so outside my last round of Vancomycin. This was my second round with the drug. BM's were unpleasant during the drug and afterward they are still mushy but with some form to them. They resemble a brown-orange snake with some puffiness. I took some fiber supplements and they got a little more brown and a little firmer but are still not fun to pass. Additionally, it feels when I have a BM that there is "still more" there. When wiping you can feel it if you push in a little bit on the rectum area. Will this resolve itself with time or do I need to take more fiber?

This is my 482nd day with this shit.

It's all so individual, so I am not sure if anybody else's advice will help you. I had pretty good luck with Metamucil capsules a while back, and laughed at some of the reviews on Amazon too. One guy gave it thumbs up for creating "no wipe necessary" BMs and it did the same for me. I can't remember if I took one or two capsules a day, but I definitely didn't take as many as they recommended. It's just going to be trial and error for you.

Stop looking in the bowl , you will have all kind of BM , most of them abnormal , it is nerve wreaking , and that feeling that you haven't evacuated everything is pretty common , i have it too. Unless you have diarrhea do not worry. I tried Metamucil too , but it didn't help.

Metamucil gave me D even before c diff. I used to be C and when I tried it, I got cramping and D. It helps some people. Whatever you try, just try a small amount first. Some posters like the natural acacia powder fiber. Others have had good results with Benefiber.

Maybe I'm not being clear enough, but I'm not really talking about the stool itself. I could care less at this point. What I'm talking about is a correlation between a burning pain that comes with abnormal stools versus no pain that comes from formed stools. Is this normal? Why would the abnormal stools cause this? That's the type of thing I'm asking. It's almost like my freaking rectum is swollen and has a hard time pushing anything out that is more than a snake-like thing. I get what you're all saying, but it's this horrible burning pain I have. I have no stomach cramps now...just the damn burning.

You should go see a colorectal specialist , maybe do a rectoscopy (no prep needed) to see what is causing the burning.

The toxins make things really raw down there, and you went untreated for quite a while. You could have hems or just residual inflammation. I remember I had that burning but it went away fairly soon after I was cured. If it persists I would ask to be tested again to make sure the course of vanco cleared the infection.

I have that too. If I have normal formed stools, I don't have burning. If they are looser, I have it too. I assume it is the toxins, but not really sure. I get it with looser stools even when I am negative for c difficile.

Stomach acid is strong enough to disolve bones.
If you have fast transit it follows that your stools might be more acidic than usual and irritate your skin.

You say you can feel it when you push a little bit on the rectum area. I would ask the dr to check you for hems. I've been able to feel hems the way you describe when they are aggravated and swollen. I have them and have experienced the feeling of "not being done" and that something is in there. Basically I've felt like something is right there about to come out. Additionally I read back to one of your first posts and noticed you said you've seen blood on the paper but it wasn't on the bms. I've had that and for me it was from the constant wiping. It basically rubbed the area raw. D causes things to feel irritated and even loose stools for me cause irritation. I've felt the burn and many a times it was from food I've eaten but many other times it was from the irritation down there. Honestly I had to give my bum a rest. I used special baby wipes that have zero fragrance and limited ingredients and was extremely gentle when wiping. Eventually the pain, burning, rectal pressure, and rawness went away and hems could relax too. I've complained of rectal pain on here before. It's not fun. Run this all by your dr and see if he agrees that might be the culprit. As far as the snake like I've had that. The colon isn't perfectly straight and I've had snakes, coils, spirals, etc. you name it. But my normal is straighter. Check your posture while going. I've got a little squatty potty for my posture it helps things come out naturally and unpinched.
In my opinion the feeling I've felt that resembles what you describe. That going sometimes feels like getting salt In a cut on your finger. Hope things heal down there for you fast.
Sorry post rant for the tmi everyone and hope it helps. Now that we all know so much we are practically family. Family that over shares but family!
